Licensed Funeral Director- PT and FT
LFD will be an active team member within our “work-family” and involved in every aspect of running an upscale- affordable funeral home in Amherst, NY. The leadership team and culture view each person as a valued strategic member of the organization.
Hours: Monday Through Friday 8am to 4pm; After 4pm and weekend On-Call- Rotations between teammates.
Work with Lead LFD and team to learn the business from funerals to business operations. This includes operations, sales, marketing (traditional and digital) and quality funeral services for all their current and future clients. Assist Senior LFD with removals, embalming, arrangements and conduct prearrangements, funeral, and memorial services in a professional, organized and caring manner. This includes personal hygiene. Professional clean-cut appearance “Sunday best” professional attire will be required for all funeral services and during business hours. Perform general duties and administrative duties to include but not limited to preparing documents, answering phones, and performing other tasks as assigned. Our families come first including both external and internal customers.

We are a well-established, family business with 14 locations in WNY. Duties include funeral arrangements, removals, bi-weekly on call and directing funerals. Qualified candidates must possess a clean NYS driver’s license as well as a reliable vehicle. Strong communication skills a must and the ability to independently work as well as work with others. We are searching for a self-motivated and professional individual with strong communication skills and a thorough background in all aspects of funeral services. They must also be tech-savvy, be able to multi-task, and be able to perform all physical duties required as a funeral director. Duties would include removals, funeral arrangements, embalming, directing funerals, office work, and all other normal functions and responsibilities of this profession.
Candidates need to have a clean NYS driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for transportation. They must also have a professional appearance and be able to work well in a group setting as well as independently.
Our funeral directors assist in operating at two locations: W.S. Davis Funeral Home in Arcade, NY and Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home in Springville, NY. We maintain a high call volume in our neighborhood; requiring our funeral directors to alternate being on call on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
